Exploring……San Rafael Swell.

Utah really does have so much to offer.  Not only do we have the mountains that are famous for amazing snow and great skiing but the summer adventure options are just as spectacular if not more.  In the few years that I have live in SLC I have spent plenty of time in the Wasatch front and Uinta Mountains generally with Buddy by my side.  Every spring/summer I usually get the chance to get to Southern Utah to enjoin that beautiful landscape as well.  With each new hike or trip there always tends to be something new.  Both Jana and I have been antsy for trips lately but with some big decisions coming up as well as the lack of time, we haven’t been able to plan a big trip for this coming summer.  Fortunately UT is full of regional options within a few hours away.  With the help of Google and some suggestions from acquaintances we decided to see what San Rafael Swell was all about.  So at the last minute we packed up our gear convince Mitch to tag along and loading Buddy in the back of the XC (which we found out is an offroad machine) and headed down to San Rafael.  Our original plan was to hike the Chute at Muddy Creek (Google it) but due to the high spring waters we forced to just hike the south end of the Muddy Creek Canyon.  Aside from the nats while camping the weather and scenery was amazing, and this quick trip down south served as a great reminder of how great we have it here as well as a great way to get away from the day to day hustle and bustle.

  1. Once again I realized that I should probably start proof reading my posts before posting them…..or not.

  2. I think it’s better unproof-read. It gives it character. Leave the proof reading at work, I say. The swell is always a good time. The next time I’m in town I’ll bring my crap and we should hit something down south up. I even have a rope now, so we could do some more technical stuff or something.
